Idea: surprise a stranger with an unexpected gift
- $1 each for eight (8) Large Coffee with cream, sugar, and stirrers
- $1 each for eight (8) McDoubles with everything
- 10-15mins : time to distribute all items, including walk-time
We did this late at night, and in some cases we even woke people up (more detail on how we did that that to follow). We met extremely positive reactions from everyone that we met. As we apologized for waking one person wrapped in a blanket on cold pavement, they exclaimed: “No, you don’t understand — this is worth waking up for!”
We had no complete refusals. Everyone took the sandwich and not everyone took the coffee with remarks like “…thank you very much, but the caffeine will keep me awake and I need to be able to sleep…” , and so we were able to offer coffees to additional people and provided for more than eight people.
If you want to try it, remember that it doesn’t take a lot of money to provide a cheese burger and coffee for someone, and it may be the only time that person eats today. We had figured: (had everyone accepted both items) to provide the sandwich and coffee for eight, the out-of-pocket after-tax cost was $2.25 per person.
